Vosne-Romanée, Aux Malconsorts, 1er Cru, "Christianne", 2024
A much more expansive and demonstrative wine than the straight Malconsorts at this early tasting, with more breadth and seduction and a feeling of more fruit sweetness. Deeper, darker berry fruits, a touch of spice, and a wonderful flowing sense of hedonic charm. Fermented with 100% whole bunches, but showing very little whole bunch character. Wonderful. From a very special part of the Malconsorts vineyard, a parcel that is the other side of the road to the main Malconsorts block, surrounded by the original part of La Tache. Aged in a little more new oak than the classic Malconsorts.
critic reviews
Containing 100% whole bunch, the 2024 Vosne-Romanée Les Malconsorts Cuvée Christiane 1er Cru has a perfumed nose that, I must admit against my own expectation, handles the stems better than the regular cuvée. The palate is medium-bodied with a pinch of white pepper on the entry. There is more weight on the mid-palate compared to the regular: Earl Grey and subtle white pepper emerging towards the composed finish that shows minor attenuation. Overall, a potentially great Cuvée Christiane, though not the very best that I have tasted since its inception.
