Nuits St Georges, Les Vaucrains, 1er Cru, 2010
As intense and wholesome as you would expect of Vaucrains, with wonderful sweetness of fruit to match; long suave and stirring flavours of cherry, bramble, bilberry and raspberry with a distinct earth, undergrowth and mineral dimension, culminating in a fine finish that echoes with flowers and kirsch. One of the great vineyards of Nuits, Gouges note that their parcels in Vaucrains always produce very small berries, making for a very powerful, intense wine.
critic reviews
The 2010 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Vaucrains 1er Cru is a wine tasted on three occasions. I much prefer this to the 2007. The bouquet is expressive and vivacious with rose petals and vibrant red fruit, much more detailed than the 2007. The palate is pretty, feminine and bright with fine tannins although like before, it just takes its foot off the accelerator towards the finish. Give it another couple of years in the cellar. Tasted from a bottle from my personal cellar.
