(all of these 2013s were bottled without fining or filtration): Medium red. Lovely, nuanced aromas of raspberry, menthol and noble herbs reminded me of Bonnes-Mares. A step above the preceding wines in density and energy. Quite chewy and alive, and very 2013 in style. Finishes tactile, savory and long, with a firm tannic spine and noteworthy energy to support aging.
The 2013 Chambolle Musigny 1er Cru les Baudes is open for business on the nose just like the Chabiots, laden with lovely ripe strawberry and raspberry preserve scents, hints of marmalade in the background. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tensile tannins that are more supple than the Chabiots, with fine backbone on the finish. Long in the mouth, this should drink extremely well once bottled.
