Morey St Denis, Vieilles Vignes, 1er Cru, 2015
The estate’s mythical cuvee. From two climats, Farconnieres and Chenevery. The massale selection vines average 70 years old and are planted on soils that have a little clay on the surface with hard rocky limestone subsoils not far beneath. Stunning. Mineral and structured yet with beautiful texture and finesse. Depth and light. Fruit and savoury. Notes of small forest berries, damson cherry and undergrowth.
critic reviews
The 2015 Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru has a wonderful, detailed, charming bouquet of red currant, cranberry and bergamot scents entwined with rose petals and minerals. The palate is well balanced, displaying fine definition, gentle grip and a hint of dried blood filtered through the slightly darker-than-expected fruit on the finish. I appreciate the structure here - très Morey-Saint-Denis. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.
