The 2016 Pommard Clos Blanc 1er Cru displays noticeable new oak on the nose but it seems neatly integrated with the plush purple fruit behind it. The palate is medium-bodied with toasty ripe tannin, the oak obscuring the terroir expression so that it feels a little generic towards the finish. Could be going through a dumb phase so keep any bottles for now. Tasted blind at the 2016 Burgfest tasting. (DIAM 10 closure)
