Gevrey-Chambertin, 2022
A sumptuous yet fresh villages awash with ripe salty fruit that charges around the palate. Wild red strawberry, darker spice notes, Victoria plum, and genuine sophistication of tannin. A smart Gevrey village of dynamic animation and tension. From two parcels of Gevrey villages one on the South side of the appellation (Seuvree) and one in the North (the famous La Justice).

The 2022 Gevrey-Chambertin La Justice des Sevrées has slightly darker fruit on the nose than other Village cuvées, with touches of forest floor and a light mulch-like note that becomes more prominent with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with dark berry fruit, quite herbaceous in style, finishing with a slight vegetal edge. I wonder if some under-lignified stems are in the mix here? I will be cautious with my score at the moment.
