Morey St Denis, La Riotte, 1er Cru, 2022
Lovely fine cherry fruit nose, floral notes with a fine seam of gripping structure that threads across the palate. Salty, nervy, lifted – with a core of tightly wound fruit that looks set to emerge in time. Red cherry, aniseed, fine spice, almond blossom. Intense, mineral, and tight knit – this needs some time, but should be a wonderfully rocky, pretty wine in time. Builds slowly to a very persistent finish. Very good. Always one of the most tightly-wound and strict wines in Perrot-Minot’s cellar.
critic reviews
The 2022 Morey-Saint-Denis La Riotte 1er Cru has a very cohesive bouquet: a mixture of red and black fruit, forest floor, and light tobacco scents - quite complex and well-defined. The palate is very well-balanced with fine-boned tannins. There is exquisite balance and transparency here, and it is very fresh with lip-smacking salinity on the finish. A surfeit of nascent energy should see this age marvelously in bottle.
