critic reviews
Dark, bright red. Perfumed aromas of blackberry, licorice, minerals and bitter chocolate. Delivers a remarkable combination of silkiness and solidity, showing incredible sweetness and density to its extract-rich flavors of blackberry, violet and crushed stone. This supple, pliant finish features noble tannins and great palate-staining persistence. I would not be surprised if this great grand cru went into a shell after the bottling. (Incidentally, the day before my November visit, Faiveley purchased the second-smallest holding of Musigny (just over three oeuvrés, located between the plots of Roumier and de Vogüé) from the Dufouleur family. Faiveley will now be able to make 500 to 600 bottles per year, vs. a current 150.
