Beaune Grèves, 1er Cru, 2017
The 2017 is a textbook offering in the beautifully delicate Génot-Boulanger style that is drinking perfectly now: shimmering with a fine-boned transparency and an enticing silkiness, culminating with a savoury kick of limestone to the finish that beautifully complements the alluring forest berry fruit. Well-exposed and well-drained, an early ripening plot that sits above L’Enfant Jesus. Mid slope, south-east facing planted on sandy clay and limestone soils spread over one hectare, a part planted in the 60s, the remainder in the 80s.
critic reviews
The 2017 Beaune Grèves 1er Cru has a straightforward bouquet, well defined, light and airy, offering red cherries and crushed strawberry. The palate is medium-bodied, taut and fresh, with lithe tannins, fine acidity and just the right amount of piquancy on the peppery finish. Charming. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2017 tasting.
