Meursault, Clos du Cromin, 2022
Great precision on the nose. Brilliant crystalline fruit, fine grained despite having quite a presence and punch to it. Lemon flesh, fine salt, plenty of fresh acidity and a very pleasing extract on the finish which gives bite and shape. Clos du Cromin is a vineyard that works particularly well in warm, dry vintages because of the clay content in the soil, and then after about 40cm you hit the mother rock, adding a balancing sense of complexity to the naturally full, open-knit fruit that characterises this wine.
critic reviews
The 2022 Meursault Clos du Cromin was picked on the first day of harvest over two days. It has a well-defined nose with a reductive element that works to its advantage. The palate is well-balanced with a slightly honeyed texture. There’s plenty of extract here before easing off the accelerator towards the more refined finish. It should give a decade's worth of drinking pleasure.
