Génot Boulanger
Volnay, V.V., 2021
justerini & brooks tasting note
A fruit-filled nose of sweet cherry and autumn raspberry. A Volnay of solid richness and volume, red fruit, plums with gripping tannins. Less lift than the Pommard, more substance and power. A blend of village plots with the 1er Cru Ronciere, more clay than limestone for the village plots with a greater percentage of limestone in the 1er Cru.

A blend of all the Village Cru plus Ronceret Premier Cru, the 2021 Volnay Village has a very fragrant and floral bouquet with rose petals and peonies developing with time. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, fine depth and a little fleshiness towards the finish, with a liberal sprinkling of white pepper. Worth seeking out.
