Volnay, 2022
Previously VV but now including a plot of younger vines from Joueres, this is a relatively muscular Volnay, with a velvety structure and satisfyingly robust fruit over a gripping tannic spine – sun warmed plums and raspberry coulis on the finish. A blend of village plots with the 1er Cru Roncerets, more clay than limestone for the village plots with a greater percentage of limestone in the 1er Cru.
critic reviews
The 2022 Volnay Village blends Les Echards, Les Jouerres and Les Aussy (no Premier Cru, unlike last year). It has a detailed and quite mineral-driven nose deserving of a light round of applause. Quite elegant. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grain tannins, harmonious if missing a bit of grip on the finish. But it does have a silky smooth texture and should mature well in bottle.
