Chambolle Musigny, Gruenchers, 1er Cru, 2015
The most seductive and downright gorgeous Gruenchers Ghislaine has made. A nose of cherry blossom and super ripe cherries, the palate is silky and sensual yet so clear. The rich kirsch and berry fruit is offset by a wonderful stone and mineral dimension. Wonderful. A very stony vineyard that transmits this character to the wine with a very savoury, mineral almost flinty character. The vines are now 60 years old. Ghislaine was fortunate enough to buy this vineyard from Pousse d’Or in 2009.
critic reviews
Dark red. Tight, subtly complex aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry, violet, spices and minerals. Quite tightly coiled but not hard, exuding a subtle sweetness to its penetrating dark berry and mineral flavors. I like the wine's combination of density and flesh, not to mention its precision of flavor. Finishes with harmonious tannins and excellent length, with its black cherry flavor complicated by a saline quality. A very youthful 2015 but not at all hard today.
