Ghislaine Barthod
Chambolle Musigny, Les Charmes, 1er Cru, 2017
justerini & brooks tasting note
Ripe, open, rich, red fruits bound by supple, fine tannins. Ample in body and bursting with juicy red cherries, redcurrants and kirsch fruit. A typically generous, opulent Charmes but with a grace, definition and composure to it. This must rank among the most refined Charmes Ghislaine has produced. Charmes is very distinct from the Cras, Veroilles or Fuées being one of the lower Chambolle vineyards. One of the earliest of Barthod’s vineyard parcels to ripen, its wines are always very flamboyant and full.
