92/100Neal Martin,Vinous
From magnum, the 2014 Romanée-Saint-Vivant Grand Cru is perfumed on the nose, yet subtle, not disguising that it comes from a cooler growing season. Sous-bois and tobacco notes merge with dark berry fruit. Maybe it needs a little more opulence? The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins. It's mid-weight for a Grand Cru. The 2014 shows crisp acidity and is leafy with a dash of white pepper towards the finish. I'm just seeking a bit more substance here. Tasted at Stannery Wines' producer tasting in London.
