Nuits-Saint-Georges, Rouge, Clos de la Maréchale, 1er Cru, 2020
critic reviews
The 2020 Nuits Saint-Georges Clos de la Maréchale 1er Cru has a warm bouquet. There's more red fruit here, with floral scents emerging—violet and peony—fine delineation and nicely integrated oak. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly edgier tannins, fine structure, a little more peppery in style (possibly due to the whole bunch), gentle grip, and a ferrous finish. Give this a couple of years in bottle. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.
After tasting the ethereal, medium-bodied 2021, the deep, saturated hue of the 2020 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Clos de la Marechale represents quite a contrast. Exhibiting aromas of sweet cherries, berries, plums and spices, it's medium to full-bodied, rich and supple, with sweet powdery tannins and a concentrated core of fruit. This will reward a bit of patience.
