Chassagne Montrachet, Les Chenevottes, 1er Cru, Jean Noel Gagnard [J&B repack], 2014
A note of freshly churned butter alongside ripe citrus flesh and zest, clearly defined flavours and bright acidity, fine but also taut. There's an extra element of extract over the masures, and an almost tannic chewy character through the middle. A vineyard located at the northern edge of the village, on the Saint-Aubin side towards the bottom of the hill. The slope is gentle but enough to ensure good drainage, The soil is light clay mixed with iron rich pebbles.
critic reviews
The 2014 Chassagne Montrachet 1er Cru les Chenevottes has a clean and precise bouquet, very intense with apricot and orange blossom that instantly seduces. The palate is crisp and taut, fine salinity here with edgy citrus fruit segueing into almond and blood orange on the tender finish. This is very fine, articulating its terroir with a touch more detail than others at the moment.
