Silkier and more sensual than ever. Smooth, sweet red fruit with a touch of sloe, damson and a warming kirsch note. Alluring and sunny, but fine-boned. Easy and seductive. Not too deep or sophisticated, just pure pleasure. One of Santenay's most prestigious Premier Cru vineyards, situated east of the village next to Chassagne-Montrachet. Rarely more than 100 cases of this incredible value red Burgundy are produced each year. Ageing is in used oak barriques.

The 2019 Santenay Clos de Tavannes 1er Cru offers pretty brambly red fruit on the nose, a little earthy in style. The palate is medium-bodied with crunchy red cherry and cranberry notes. It is missing a little density on the mid-palate perhaps, but with plenty of freshness and tension on the finish. Drink over the next 5-7 years.
