Joseph Drouhin
Bâtard-Montrachet, Grand Cru, 2011
justerini & brooks tasting note
Aged in 50% new oak. A touch of oak spice on the nose but this is less discernible on a palate that is bursting with ripe, tropical fruits – flavours of nectarine and peach; silky smooth yet bustling with the energy of fresh citrus fruit character mixed with bright minerals. Excellent. 75% of this comes from the Puligny side of the commune and 25% from the Chassagne side.

(25% new oak): Full, deep yellow. Extravagant aromas of apricot, yellow plum, marzipan, clove, white pepper and cyanic peach pit. Broad, tactile and very ripe, with a slightly phenolic quality to the stone fruit, clove and noble herb flavors. Big palate impact here without coming across as heavy.
