Chassagne Montrachet, Morgeot, 1er Cru, Marquis de Laguiche, 2020
A prestigious bottling produced from start to finish by Drouhin but the vines themselves have been owned by the Laguiche family since the French Revolution. Aged in less than a quarter new oak barriques.
critic reviews
The 2020 Chassagne-Montrachet Morgeot 1er Cru (Marquis de Laguiche) has a vibrant bouquet, orange pith mixed with grapefruit and light waxy scents, again, detailed and focused, demonstrating assiduous use of oak (although it does become more prominent with aeration). The palate is well-balanced with a pleasant rondeur on the entry, smooth and more honeyed than its peers, suggesting a slightly later picking. Yet it works well as a whole, and if you seek a richer style of Chassagne, then this is just the ticket. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.
