Corton-Charlemagne, Grand Cru, 2022

justerini & brooks tasting note

Very youthful on the nose, with whispered notes of blackcurrant and quince and then that fennel note again. Deep, gripping, full of extract and noble bitter structure. 35% new oak employed here, but of very light and long toasting. Roasted lemon, polished stones, grip, tannin and structure. Backward, savoury and really quite serious – a brooding, structured Corton Charlemagne, picked on 26th August. All domaine fruit from a south-east facing plot called Les Languettes high up on the hill above Aloxe-Corton.

critic reviews

92-94/100William Kelley,Robert Parker Wine Advocate

The 2022 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru (Domaine) derives from vines in Languettes, a south-facing climat that produces a ripe style of wine. Delivering aromas of sweet yellow orchard fruit, confit citrus and buttery pastry, it's medium to full-bodied, rich and ample, with a layered, seamless profile.

The 2022 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru had a bit of oxidation on the nose and was difficult to read. This is not representative, therefore I shall not assess it for now.
