Chablis, Montmain, 1er Cru, 2017
justerini & brooks tasting note
A powerful, intense Montmains. This was clearly made from grapes that had reached a high level of maturity, but not so much that it masks minerality and character. Intense suave fruit awash with very fine-grained salty minerals. A real a class act, flavoursome but not too much. This has dimension and power yet is neatly constructed. Not a hair is out of place.

The 2017 Chablis Montmains 1er Cru did not really cohere on the nose and seemed just a little acetic, although it is very faint. The palate is bitter and rather hard. A Chablis that does not really flow and feels too lean on the finish. A bit of TCA here? Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting in Savigny-lès-Beaune.
