Chevalier Montrachet, Grand Cru, 2009
justerini & brooks tasting note
Old vines originally planted in the 1950s, with some replanting in 1974 and 1980, this offers all of the sunny ripe golden peach and Mirabelle fruit and buttery roundness of the vintage whilst, incredibly, maintaining that classic Chevalier tension and minerals.

The 2009 Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru comes from an era when it's a bit like Russian Roulette trying to avoid premox'd bottles. Fortunately, this bottle is fine. It has an exquisite, haunting bouquet with hints of white truffle and yellow fruit bursting in slow motion. Lemon balm hints appear throughout. The palate is well-balanced with superb weight. Plenty of extract lends umami towards the finish. This convincing Chevalier-Montrachet will age well in bottle.
