Pale medium yellow. Subdued but pure aromas of peach, lemon, flowers and spicy oak. Soft, rich and fresh, with less exotic flavors and less obvious alcohol than the foregoing samples. This finishes with excellent length.
Bursting forth with spicy yellow plums, apricots, and pears, the 2003 Puligny-Montrachet Combettes (white) is a delightfully soft, deep, rich medium-bodied wine. Its beguiling candied apple, sweet mineral, and spiced pear flavors are fleshy, expressive, and prolonged throughout its suave finish. Anticipated maturity: now-2012.
