Puligny-Montrachet, Les Pucelles, 1er Cru, 2023
This shows immense, great strength but it is a very fine and focused power; intense notes of citrus flower, lemon rind and limes; clear and with an acute definition. Strong flint and limestone characteristics with hints of flower on the long finish. Emanating from three parcels from the heart of the Pucelles vineyard situated next to Bienvenue-Bâtard-Montrachet.
critic reviews
The 2024 Puligny-Montrachet Les Pucelles 1er Cru, which Brice de la Morandière quipped was a "Grand Cru" (well, he does have grounds), has a succinct bouquet with lime, citrus peel and light flinty aromas that gradually unfurl in the glass. The palate is well balanced, cut from a similar cloth to the Les Combettes but with a slightly creamier texture. Perhaps it does not quite have the same "electricity" as the latter. This is long in the mouth, but juxtaposing the two cuvées I might err towards the Les Combettes.
