Its northerly location makes Clos de la Crochette a completely different style of wine to Lafon’s other Macons, expressing cooler and calmer tones - more orchard fruit than stone fruit or citrus. Fresh, aromatic and juicy ripe apple and pear flavours abound. Seamless and elegant, this is poised and open knit through to a super, long finish. The wine is aged half in large oak foudres and half in oak demi-muid barrels. From the northern sector of the Mâcon, near to Uchizy.

The 2022 Mâcon-Chardonnay Clos de la Crochette has a quite backward nose that needs more tension. The palate is well-balanced with fine acidity, much more expressive than the aromatics, with a peachy, seductive finish. Lovely. But the nose needs to step up a gear.
