Meursault, Santenots, 1er Cru, 2022
Sheer class. This finds an extra level of finesse and minerality compared to the Bourgogne. Chalky, tense and lime-orientated. Stylish with a hint of dry extract acting as girder to the fine fine fruit. Composed, persistent and crackling with energy.

The 2022 Meursault Santenots 1er Cru has developed nicely since I tasted it in barrel. It has dispensed with the reduction, light quince and pressed white flower scents, just a touch of chai. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity; thankfully, there is just a little more nerve on the finish. I would have liked a bit more length, but that is simply because of the challenging growing season. Drink over four to seven years.
The 2022 Meursault 1er Cru Santenots reveals a gently reductive bouquet of pear, white flowers, toasted nuts and freshly baked bread, followed by a medium to full-bodied, satiny and seamless palate that's impressively bright and mineral for such a sunny terroir in so warm a vintage.
