Clos de Vougeot, Grand Cru, 2015
Remarkably open and seductive, such a svelte texture, this caresses the mouth with voluptuous fruit flavours of sweet dark and red fruit, notes of loganberry, crème de mûre, cherry and plum. This floods the senses with flavours that also show the great persistance of a true Grand Cru. Wonderful. Méo Camuzet have brilliantly situated vines in Clos de Vougeot, one big parcel is just in front of the Château at the north-west end of the vineyard. A third of the vines were planted in the 1920s, a third 1960s and the rest are 20-30 years old.
critic reviews
The 2015 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru is missing some energy and delineation on the nose, the winemaking overshadowing the terroir expression. The palate is medium-bodied with chewy tannin. A sinewy Clos de Vougeot that is just missing some grace and elegance on the clumsy finish. I was one of several participants who had reservations about this wine, and I will seek to revisit it. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.
