Nuits St Georges, Les Boudots, 1er Cru, 2023
Lower acidity than the Murgers, so very open round and expressive. Showing beautifully already. Forward broad and suave, with a little sap chew and grip to go with the floral, sweet plum, damson and strawberry fruit. The vines were planted in the 1950s and 1960s. Boudots can be found on the Vosne side of the Nuits appellation, next door to Malconsorts, yielding very silky and expressive wines of considerable breadth and force.
critic reviews
The 2023 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Boudots 1er Cru has a perfumed nose with iris flowers and a touch of peony infusing its mainly black fruit—although here I am seeking a little more presence, as with the 2022. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, and the 60% new oak becomes just a little vocal toward the finish. Hopefully, the terroir expression will develop more once that has been assimilated. At present, the Aux Murgers is showing Les Boudots how it's done.
