The 2021 Vosne-Romanée Les Chaumes 1er Cru has quite a perfumed bouquet, perhaps the most floral of this first flight, with hints of violet infusing the dark berry fruit. There is a little oak to be subsumed. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent tannins, silky smooth and harmonious, although it just lacks a little density and grip on the finish. But what you might call a "useful" Vosne-Romanée. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

Offering up aromas of plums, rose petals, orange zest and spices, the 2021 Vosne-Romanee 1er Cru Les Chaumes is medium to full-bodied, bright and charming, its pretty core of fruit framed by powdery tannins and lively acids. This is a perfumed, immediate Chaumes in the making.
