Vosne Romanée, 2019
Multi-layered, glossy but pristine hedgerow fruit mixed with a sapid element. Suave but bright. There is great depth here for a villages that also demonstrates real lift and precision to the dark cherry, plum and bramble fruit. Exquisite Vosne. A blend of two parcels, Les Barreaux and Les Communes with vines up to 50 years old. Ageing is in a 40% new oak barriques.
critic reviews
Unwinding in the glass with notes of raspberries, rose petals, exotic spices and orange peel, the 2019 Vosne-Romanee Village is medium to full-bodied, supple and layered, with a lively core of fruit, velvety tannins and a bright, precise finish. This is a fine cuvee in the making.
The 2019 Vosne-Romanée Village was a little sullen when I tasted the barrel sample, offering broody black fruit and quite a strong marine influence plus a touch of black olive. The palate is medium-bodied with crunchy black fruit, quite Morey-like in terms of structure, leading to a more austere finish than some of its peers at the moment. Will need time.
