Clos de Vougeot, Grand Cru, 2018
Taciturn and brooding. Big punchy flavours of hedgerow fruit, bramble, dried herb and woody spices. There is plenty of crunch and chew to this, a deep and powerful wine that requires a bit of time and air to unlock its full potential. A blend of three parcels within the Clos de Vougeot, one from the bottom part of the vineyard, one from the middle on the Vosne side and one higher up near to the Château.
critic reviews
The 2018 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru comes from three separate parcels located at both the bottom and the top of the clos. It has a well-defined bouquet of bright red berry fruit, cranberry, morello cherry and touches of pomegranate; an underlying tertiary note becomes more evident with aeration. The fleshy, generous palate is very harmonious, with supple tannins and good acidity. Lightly spiced with a dash of white pepper and rosemary toward the gentle finish. Like other wines from Lamarche, this is understated but very pure and charming.
