Chassagne Montrachet, La Grande Montagne, 1er Cru, 2018
Typically flinty and mineral but delivered with finesse and precision. Light, pure and intense, there is nothing forced about this, yet it awakens and haunts your palate. Long, stylish, crystal-clear citrus and white fruits mingled with stones and salts. Gentle, persistent and alpine pure. From a tiny, rocky 0.26 hectares plot of vines in a little-known chalk clay vineyard next to La Romanée, one of the highest vineyards in Chassagne.
critic reviews
The 2018 Chassagne-Montrachet La Grande Montagne 1er Cru has a well-defined bouquet with yellow plum, touches of wild peach and beeswax. On the entry, the palate is well balanced with orange rind and bitter lemon. With plenty of extract, it develops superb precision as it opens in the glass. This is stylish and full of energy. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2018 white tasting.
