Nuits-Saint-Georges, Les Cailles, 1er Cru, 2015
As you would expect from the oldest vines on the estate and from such a fine lcoation, this suggests only a fraction of its potential at first glance. Initially rich, structured and surly, with aeration the intense and deeply complex fruit comes to the fore, notes of creme de mûre, kirsch, sloe and plum. Long haunting flavours of wonderfully ripe fruits and a lingering suggestion of stone and spice. An exemplary, stony vineyard situated mid-slope next to Les-St.-Georges, Chevillon’s is a fine parcel of 80-year-old vines, the oldest vines on the estate.
critic reviews
The 2015 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Cailles 1er Cru has a lovely bouquet, slightly herbal at first but then the intensity of fruit kicks in after five minutes. The palate has very fine structure, quite strict tannin with a tightly wound but very pure and sustained finish. Tons of potential but it needs a lot of time. Tasted at the domaine.
