Chambolle Musigny, Les Amoureuses, 1er Cru, 2016
Aromatic, floral, pure and inviting. This has the most glorious palate feel, tender near invisible tannins weave their way across the palate, with a refreshing, salty energy at its core. Wild red fruits seamlessly melt into a mineral freshness. You can tell there’s depth here but it refuses to feel heavy. Wonderful. A majestic vineyard in majestic hands. Aged in a maximum of 40% new oak and fermented with 100% whole bunches. The vines range from 30 to 80 years old.
critic reviews
The 2016 Chambolle-Musigny Les Amoureuses 1er Cru has a tightly wound bouquet with red cherries, raspberry and touches of crushed strawberry. The wine comes across as well defined if just missing some joie-de-vivre that thankfully evolves with time. Conservative for an Amoureuses, but that is a virtue because there is a beguiling effortlessness here. And that translates across to the palate: very well judged acidity, structured and with disarming purity and elegance on the sensual finish. Complete. Stunning. Tasted blind at the 2016 Burgfest tasting.
