Nuits St Georges, Aux Thorey, 1er Cru, 2014
Ripe dark fruit notes of black cherry with that added terroir complexity you expect of a top premier cru - flavours of mineral, wood smoke and stone. Fresh and flavoursome with a silky texture and fine, elegant finish. A parcel of Nuits vines planted i 1953, situated on the Vosne side of the appellation.
critic reviews
Medium red. Musky raspberry, blueberry and licorice on the fresh nose, plus leather and earth nuances. Fine-grained, sappy and dense, with a strong calcaire quality energizing the middle palate but keeping the wine tight today. Finishes long and classically dry, even a bit austere, but with late-arriving tannins and noteworthy finesse. Cathiard's old vines here are on a steep slope featuring shallow soil over rock. This holds out excellent aging potential.
