More Vosne-like than the 2009, very pretty, ripe hedgerow fruit flavours, floral bright and silky flavours of bramble, blackthorn and red cherry, hints of earth spice and mineral; great depth and complexity. Polished and complete Nuits. From a 60-year-old parcel of Nuits vines situated on the Vosne side of the appellation.

The 2023 Nuits Saint-Georges Aux Thorey 1er Cru has an open and "airy" bouquet of red cherries, wild strawberries and wilted rose petal scents, and is not concentrated like the previous vintage but very focused. The palate is silky-smooth on the entry and the 60% new oak is just a little "vocal" at the moment, imparting a seductive lactic element toward the finish. That will be subsumed with time. Afford this modern-styled NSG three or four years in bottle.
