Tradition, Grand Cru, Brut, NV
Here there are biscuit notes amongst a mortar of cracked spice and complex golden fruit, roasted citrus zest, black limes, toast. Really fine, yet with all the presence of great Ambonnay Pinot Noir. Long, saline finish, excellent shape throughout. Really impressive. Based around the 2018 vintage (50%), with 2017 (30%) and 2016 (20%) making up the blend. Disgorged September 2023 with 1g dosage.

The Brut Grand Cru NV is a 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay blend predominantly from the 2018 vintage (60%). Barrel fermented and kept on lies for nearly one year, it unfurls with attractive notes of lemon cream, vanilla, chalk dust, acacia honey and a minty note of verbena. The medium-bodied, ripe palate is layered with fruit richness and a chalky acid energy that holds through the long, honeyed finish with hints of toast. Disgorged July 2023 and made to an Extra Brut style with one gram per liter dosage.
Even though it was only Disgorged: a few months ago, the NV Brut Tradition Grand Cru is super-expressive. The Brut Tradition brings together parcels in Ambonnay, Bouzy and Verzenay that, together, yield a Pinot-driven Champagne with tremendous breadth as well as cut. Red fruit, dried flowers, mint, spice and lemon confit are some of the aromas and flavors that build in this wonderfully open-knit, inviting Champagne from Egly-Ouriet. Disgorged: July, 2020.
