A very pretty, light pink in the glass, the Ruinart Rose NV has attractive cherry and ripe grapefruit notes leading into a bright, juicy palate that explodes with vibrant acidity and a creamy mousse full of red fruit and spice. Composed of 55% Pinot Noir of which 12% is still, and 45% Chardonnay with 30% reserve wine in the blend, it is aged two to three years sur latte and finished with an eight gram per liter dosage. This is a very fresh, uncomplicated rosé and ready to enjoy.

(55% Pinot Noir and 45% Chardonnay; 9 g/l dosage; LAH9V): Light orange. Sharply focused red berry and tangerine scents are complicated by suggestions of allspice and cinnamon, with a hint of smokiness in the background. Sappy and minerally on the palate, offering fresh strawberry and blood orange flavors lifted by juicy acidity. Packs a serious punch but carries no excess weight and finishes stony and very long, with echoing red berry character.

“Dom Ruinart, always 100% Chardonnay from grand cru vineyards, was created by Bertrand Mure, who was part of the extended Ruinart family. The sources of the base wines vary with each vintage but generally it's about two-thirds from the Côte des Blancs and one-third from the northern part of the Montagne de Reims.” Jancis Robinson
