Pouilly Fumé, Pur Sang, 2009

Pur Sang or "Thoroughbred" comes from vines planted on a mixture of clay and small flint stone soils fermented and aged in oak demi-muids, production of the 2009 is significantly down thanks to hail, unfortunately, because the quality is glorious. A typical Pur Sang in its soft, refined perfumed fruit, gentle pure but not lacking in strength, exquisitely elegant. Ripe peach, nectarine, elderflower flavours couplded with great tension and precision, bracing notes of fresh lime juice adding some spark to the finish. Excellent.
