Pouilly Fumé, Silex, 2010
Clearly more mineral than the Sancerre and even the other Pouillys. Tight, intense and bursting with energetic flavours. Exciting, electric notes of lime rind, gooseberry, struck flint, sicilian lemon, distinctly mineral, immense and intense. World Class Sauvignon. A selection of grapes from vines planted on 'Silex' (Flint) soils in the commune of St Andelain. The wine is fermented and aged in oak demi muids barrels, generally a quarter new oak.
critic reviews
Greenish yellow. Lime and quince on the nose, with dusty mineral and honeysuckle qualities adding complexity. Drier and racier than the 2011, showing impressive definition to its citrus and floral flavors. Finishes with mineral thrust and spicy length. Still closed and a touch austere, but shows the superb potential of the 2010 vintage.
