Pouilly Fumé, Silex, 2014
justerini & brooks tasting note
This does smell palpably of flint and herbs and zesty citrus notes, wraught in high definition, while on the palate there are notes of lime juice, apple blossom struck flint and fine lemon garlanding a firm, almost spicy mineral core. A true vin de garde, both incredibly intense but also exceptionally well balanced. Stunning. A selection of grapes from Silex (Flint) soils in the commune of St Andelain. The wine is fermented and aged in oak demi muids barrels, generally a quarter new oak.
