Châteauneuf du Pape, Blanc, Clos des Papes, 2024
A year of peach and freshly cut flowers with grapefruit and apple pith, the 2024 is clear and crisp with a high quality juicy palate influenced by the freshness of Picpoul and Bourbolenc. A slightly lower yield on the Grenache Blanc Vincent thinks helps to explain the lightness and detail in this beautifully pure and drinkable CNDP Blanc. As ever, fermented and aged exclusively in stainless steel, bottled in February 2025.
critic reviews
Bottled in February 2025, the 2024 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc spent a mere five months in stainless steel tanks on its fine lees. Ripe pear, yellow apple and a touch of honeysuckle rise up from the glass. Medium-bodied and elegant yet sufficiently concentrated, the 2024 is a wonderful white Clos des Papes, packing subtle phenolic grip on the sapid termination. This comes with secure aging potential.
Crafted from six different grape varieties in equal proportions, the 2024 Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc is exquisite, wafting from the glass with aromas of flowers, herbs, almonds, pear and peach. Medium- to full-bodied, round and sappy, its fleshy with a lively core of fruit, terrific mid-palate plenitude and a long, ethereal, somewhat chalky finish lifted by a beautiful bitterness and a saline aftertaste.
