Sommerhalde, Spätburgunder, Grosses Gewächs

Sleek, ripe forest fruits with a plummy edge, there is an aromatic purity to this that is so lovely. Dancing and fluid, it glides with an open, finessed quality of blackberry, cassis and currants. So silky and pure with wonderfully integrated tannins. Youthful but already incredibly classy. Sommerhalde is planted at 300m elevation with cooling winds coming down from the forest on top. There is a little more iron in the soil along with loam that helps water retention in warmer years. Aged for around 18 months in French oak barrique.
