Brauneberger Juffer Sonnenuhr, Riesling, Auslese, Lange, Goldkap, 2011
Honeyed and with an apricot richness this is the first wine in the Lieser range that seems to have been made with some nobly-rotted fruit, it is therefore rich complex and multi-layered yet still maanges to ekep a certain composure and freshness, notes of orange blossom, nectarine, dried apricot and peach, unctuosu but zesty and lifting. The high slate content of the Brauneberger Juffer Sonnenuhr vineyard produces wines of remarkable finesse and minerality, whilst reserved in their youth they maintain great freshness and elegance with age. Thomas Haag of Schloss rates the 2011s highly: "They should age very well, a little different to classic vintages because of slightly lower acidity, they are similar to 2007 but purer. It is such an elegant vintage because of the lack of botrytis."
