Oberhäuser Leistenberg, Riesling, Kabinett, 2025
Fine-fruited and succulent, Leistenberg is layered with fresh peaches, apples and harmonious white flowers, finishing on a soothing coolness and drinkability. The cool microclimate makes Leistenberg perfect for lighter Kabinett wines – indeed, historically, they bottled at least three variations of Kabinetts from this site: Kabinett, Kabinett Feinherb and Kabinett Trocken. A southeast facing site on 30-40% gradient, the soils are primarily weathered grey slate with a dark clay.

The 2025 Riesling Oberhäuser Leistenberg Kabinett comes from a cool, shale-based site. Tenderest reduction meets lemon balm and the merest touch of passion fruit, a real tease on the nose. What a flirt, what a zesty, lively and utterly joyful brightness. It is the south-east exposure that lends it its cool, trembling aromatic nature. (Medium)
