Fruhlingsplatzchen, Riesling, Eiswein, 2021
Now this really is something very special indeed. Ten years since the last Eiswein was produced here, we are delighted to have a few cases of 2021 to offer. Frank painted the most evocative picture of the team huddled around the press, waiting for the first golden droplets to fall, Gluhwein in hands, singing Christmas Carols. Truly a wonderful image which captures the essence of this magical drink. Gloriously bold and laced with fresh pineapple, limes and grapefruit, freshly cut mango and a neverending finish. Picked on 22nd December this was quite the Christmas present. The perfect Eiswein has no botrytis and the whole cluster is fully frozen. Bottled at an amazing 6.5% ABV with a residual sugar level of 260g/l.

Picked a few days before Christmas, the 2021 Fruhlingsplatzchen Eiswein offers a concentrated, honeyed, lemon-fresh, saline and crystalline nose with a precise and dense stewed apricot and ginger aroma. Full-bodied, sweet, rich and very intense on the palate, this is a mouth-filling, savory and enormously rich and stimulating Eiswein of great class and style. The 2021 is still very young, but it is saline and stimulating and will perform brilliantly in 10-15 years. Natural cork. 6.5% stated alcohol. Tasted at the domaine in August 2022.
