Fruhlingsplatzchen, Riesling, Grosses Gewächs [SHC], 2010

A vineyard that takes its name from the German for “Spring” Fruhling. This early ripening site is one of the first places where the winter snow melts, hailing the arrival of Spring. Fabulous concentration of flavour, taut but not austere, elegant and fragrant notes of apple blossom, cox apple with a tinge of mirabelle and gentle smooth minerals, edgy but not too forceful or astringent, beautifully balanced. Aged in large oak wooden foudres.
