Grenache/Syrah
GSM stands for “Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre” and is one of the most common blends in the world of wine. Indeed, it is the prevailing blend in the Rhône Valley, with each component complementing the others strengths and reinforcing a strong, Mediterranean profile. Châteauneuf-du-Pape is built on the strength of this blend, with the ripe Garnacha tempered by the freshness and spice of Syrah, and reinforced structurally by the serious, brooding Mouvedre.
GSM blends are also found across the New World, from Australia to South Africa, and forms the backbone of the Rhone Ranger movement in California.
