Dolceacqua

Dolceacqua, also often known as Rossese di Dolceacqua, is perhaps the most famous wine region in Ligura; north-western Italy. The alpine valleys and forests here surround the vineyards, elevated up to 500m above sea level, which produce one of Italy´s best kept secrets; the Rossese grape variety. Vermentino and Albarola are also produced here, yet it´s Rossese that captures the attention, with its bright, tangy character and firm tannin, accentuated by the lighter, sandy soils of the region. Firmer, more serious examples are made by leading producers such as Terre Bianche.
